1/7/11 - Going Green Is a No-Brainer!
Today, the world is focused on going green - from electric cars and solar panels to reusable bags and lawn fertilizer. Did you know you can help the environment with the type of water heater too? Going green also translates into saving money on those utility bills.
Conventional tank-style water heaters that are in most homes are a drain on your wallet. The water in these massive tanks is kept hot continuously throughout the day - when you're asleep, at work, etc. It takes a tremendous amount of energy to keep all that water hot 24 hours per day!

Tank-less water heaters only use energy when hot water is being used. How it works is, instead
of water sitting in a big tank, the water
is forced through small tubes that are
surrounded by the heat source. Only
when the system detects that water is
moving does that heat source activate,
bringing the fresh water up to
temperature in an instant.

This alternative to conventional water
heaters can reduce your water heating
costs by up to 50% and, let's not forget,
it helps out our planet! In fact, President
Obama has also authorized a tax credit for
the energy-efficient tank-less hot water
heaters. The tax credit, worth up to $500, is available in existing homes that
install the unit between January 1st and December 31, 2011. Who knew going green saved so much money?!
